Support Breastfeeding

I am really happy that my colleague is breastfeeding her new son. Hope she will have the determination and discipline to do this at least for 6 months. We are fortunate that the company now has a nursing room since beginning of the year and even more fortunate that it is located at our floor! But still I had to hogged the female toilet 30 mins, 3 times a day for 9 months to express breast milk before we had the nursing room!!

I really wish more companies in Malaysia will support and provide proper facilities for breastfeeding mothers. Many women I know chose not to breastfeed after returning to work due to lack of facilities in working place. Breast milk is the BEST. It has all the nutrition, DHA, and whatnot advertised by formula milk companies plus antibodies! For this simple reason, I wish more women will try harder before switching to formula milk. I know some women has gone to the surau, store rooms, meeting rooms and even the car to express breast milk. If there is a will, there is way.

Time for health test again!

Time flies... we had a mini free health test organized by the company yesterday, then only I realized the last one was done in Oct 2007; almost one year ago!!

Well, happy to say that everything is 'lower' and better except blood cholesterol level.

Blood pressure 2007: 114/79 mmHg 2008: 101/74 mmHg (is this better? not sure)
Blood sugar 2007: 5.6 mmol/L 2008: 4.8 mmol/L
Blood cholesterol 2007: 3.0 mmol/L 2008: 5.8 mmol/L (too much Spaghetti Marinara!!!)
BMI 2007: 21.9 kg/m2 2008: 20.5 kg/m2

Sentences

Darling daughter is able to speak some simple sentences these days. Here are a few, some are quite unexpected...

- poh poh mai choy (grandma goes marketing)
- hoe she fook (very comfortable)
- tummy big big, inside baby (after I explained to her about a picture of a pregnant lady)
- tai toe thum, moe leong sum (big tummy, heartless - a chinese saying mom thought her)

- pai lei siong thoi (put you on stage - the Astro chinese program name)
- I love you
- hug tight tight
- happy birthday to you
- 123456 & abcdefg - she said these in one go, sort of like sentences I suppose...

She walks!

She finally walks without hand-holding! My darling daughter first able to stand up on her own and walk about 2 months back... but never daring enough to let-go our hands until yesterday. At 17 months, she is quite a slow walker I think.

Now she is walking round the house non-stop. Chanting 'lari, lari, cepat, cepat...' (run, run, fast, fast) and this morning I caught her saying repeatedly 'kei hoi sum' (very happy) while wondering around the house!

Soy Products - Cancer causing??

I was shocked to read about the danger of soy products at this website!

Infertility, several types of cancer, premature development in girls & etc are all linked to soy-based products, including soy-based baby milk powder!

I was researching for soy-based formula milk for my 17 months daughter who has been breastfed exclusively. She is allergy to cow's milk. Although the paediatrician has assured me that 'milk' is not compulsory in a toddler's diet at this age; I still feel like supplementing my daughter's diet with a 'milk-based nutritional drink'. Naturally soy-based formula seems like the best alternative to the market-dominated cow milk-based milk powder.

Although I can not confirm the claims are true, I rather not take chances...

Darling Missed Me

Darling daughter is almost 1.5 years old now, she is more expressive in both words and emotions.
I had to be away for 2 days each week for the past 3 weeks for business and hubby and I went away for a short break last weekend. When I return from every trip, darling would have a big smile on her face, running or kicking her feet, then give me a long and big hug; saying "hug tight tight" at the same time! Then on the next 2 days, she would be extremely sticky to me, hugging and kissing me frequently and saying "I love you" ! So sweet ya!?

While I was away, she asked grandma to walk her to the door and said "wait mommy" (wait for mommy). When hubby was showing her our photos, she said "show you some more..." (show me some more). After seeing my photos for awhile, she started crying... While playing with her toy phone, she said into the handset, "hello ... nangis semalam, cari mommy" (...crying last night, looking for mommy).

We could not bear to see her misses us so much. We also missed her like mad! So no more leisure trip without darling; hubby and I have decided to bring her along whenever we travel from now on =o)
