Friends

Can't help to share this pic of my girl with her friend... aren't they cute !!?? (my girl is the boyish looking one ;p)

My girl later got jealous of her friend cos I was carrying her friend! hahaha... I didn't realise it until my friend told me. We often takes the little ones' feeling for granted; not realising they too have feelings and emotion like us adults.

Sorry darling! Mommy will be more sensitive next time, promised :)

Doctor Fish

Went to the opening of a friend's fish spa last weekend. Hubby tried letting the fish 'nibble' his legs. The fishes are actually fed on dead skin cells; hence after the 'treatment' you will be left with smooth, glowing skins! Some also claims it cures / improves certain skin diseases!

Hubby said it feels kinda ticklish when the fishes are feeding. And he claims his legs are muchhhhhh smoother after wor....

Milky-Soup Ramen - Ajisen Ramen

PaiKuat Ramen

Fried Chicken Ramen
Major difference from other ramen in Malaysia is the non-halal thick, milky and flavourful soup (due to prolong simmering and generous ingredient I reckoned, definitely no added milk!). Very nice!!
My first taste of this japanese noodle was in Hong Kong and fell for it immediately! Although this Malaysian version is still not on par as the Hong Kong version; but its still good for local standard.
Generous serving of springy noodles (think al-dente spaghetti), loads of cabbage, taugeh, spring onions and seaweeds. These are then paired with your chosen ingredients including paikuat (pork rib), fried chicken, charsiu (roasted pork), smoked pork ham (ton toro) and many others.
Location:
1 Utama old wing (opposite New Zealand Natural, near TGV cinema), Sunway Pyramid new wing (not sure exact location)
Kid friendliness:
Ok. 1 Utama outlet is spacious enough for stroller. Has booth seats. No kid menu. No comment on Pyramid outlet.

Cover... Ta-da!

Darling daughter put her spoon on the sofa, pull the sofa throw over the spoon and said... 'cover'. Then remove the throw to reveal the spoon and said... 'ta-da' !

She is such a parrot these days; repeating what she hears all the time. I always say 'ta-da' when I open the tabs of her flip books (children board book with open-able tabs) revealing the pictures behind.

She enjoyed herself so much playing this hiding game :0)

Useful Info for Cloth Diaper Newbies

I was thinking of emailing some basic cloth diaper (CD) info to my best friend... then I thought might as well post it in my blog here for the benefit of more friends ;p

I am sharing here some very good CD info written by very experienced CD mommies. You can check here for info on CD types, differences between CD types, features of selected CD brands and even some FAQs. And here is a table of comparison on CD inserts.

I have listed some websites that I frequent for my CD purchases here in my blog too, do check them out if you're interested.

Selecting your baby's sex??

I found this chart on the net. It says you can determine the gender of your baby by matching the conceiving month and the mother's age!! I did a quick check on my age and the month I conceived my daughter... correct wor!!!

Can anyone else try and let me know if its accurate for you too? (those who has given birth la!) Please please leave your comment...

Another Cloth Diaper User!

I am so happy that my best friend had just ordered her first cloth diaper for her son to try! So good to know someone else is helping the environment by a little; and glad that I have help a little in promoting cloth diaper =o)

It is not just about the environment, another reason that I have opted to use mostly cloth diapers for my daughter is the lack of chemical in it... Can you imagine the amount of chemical contained in all these super absorbent, dry-feeling disposable diapers in the market?

I choose cloth diapers because:

  1. Its natural, chemical free & environmental friendly
  2. It saves money
  3. Its better for baby bottom (less chances of getting diaper rash)
  4. Its cute! So many designs and so fashionable!

RPM Studio Cycling

Its Tuesday again! Time flies... I join a RPM class at the gym every Tuesday; hoping to burn maximum calories in that 1 hour I can spare in the gym. RPM is said to burn the most calories compared to any other exercise classes!!

My first RPM class was about 4 years ago. I was left with a very very soar bottom after the class! That explains why I didn't join another RPM class in 4 years. I was assured that there won't be any 'soar bottom' with proper setup of the bike. So far so good, my bottom is still ok after 3 classes. How much calories burnt? Don't know. Dare not step up to the scale yet =op
But it definitely promise a good sweat; it makes you 'feel' like you have burnt a lot! hahaha...

RM 100 for 37 Litres

Received this email that says pumping petrol in the morning and in lower nozzle speed will get you more petrol! Not sure if there is any truth in it... but heck, with this crazy petrol price I am doing anything I can to save my money or get more petrol out of my money!!

Pumped at 8.00am this morning. Got 37 litres for my 100 ringgit. Will try to pump at different hour next round to see if there will be any difference.

Indon Speaking

At 15 months old, darling daughter is much more fluent in Bahasa Indonesia than her own mother tougue. Hubby and I speak to her mostly in English mix with some Cantonese while my mom who care for her daily speaks only in Cantonese to her. Of course my Indon maid speaks only Indon to her.

So in term of amount of time she spend the most with; ranking 1st jointly would be my maid and mom, 2nd is myself and 3rd is hubby. I guess the Indon language is somehow easier to grasp in young children then other languages and dialects...

She says:

  • Pakcik
  • Kakak
  • Baju
  • Minyak
  • Dua, Tiga (Satu not yet)
  • Pokok
  • Sudah
  • Baca
  • Topi

Lamb Shank Pie, Delicious!

Really really good lamb shank pie at Delicious! The pie was served in a bowl, covered with mashed potatoes. Make sure you eat the lamb and mashed potatoes together; the juicy tender lamb coupled with the smooth and soft mash potatoes create such a wonderful eating experience! Sorry no pic.

Other tasted and approved item at Delicious are:

  • Caesar Salad (love the watery egg-yolk!)
  • Banofee Pie
  • Classic Chocolate Cake (serve with chocolate sauce and ice cream)
  • Scone with Cream and Jam

Kid-Friendly Restaurants (for my kid now at least...)

I like to go to restaurants with booth seating with darling daughter. I will let her sit between my maid and I. She gets to touch and play things on the table and dig out all her toys and books from the bag... Its better than sitting in the baby chair as she will get bored very fast.

It is also more breastfeeding friendly! Booth seating are normally next to the the wall and has more privacy!

Some of the restaurants with booth seating that we have been to recently:

  • Duck King @ Jaya One
  • Nagomi @ Jaya 33
  • Sakae Sushi @ Bangsar Village II & Pavilion

Avent Bottles Recalled!

OMG... Just found out that Avent products has been recalled in Canada for containing a toxic chemical call BPA or Bisphenol-a! I have been using Avent breastpumps, milk bottles and teats for 15 months now!

This is a common chemical found in many baby bottles, drinking cups and plastic products. Is has been linked to serious health problem including cancer!

Here is a BPA Crash Course for you.

Here is a list of BPA free baby bottle and cups; unfortunately not many are available in Malaysia : (

Simply put, avoid all plastic product that has a recycling symbol of 7 ! (recycling symbol looks like a triangle of arrows with a number in the middle. Normally at the bottom of product)

Oh dear... gotta replace all my bottles and breastpumps (yes, breastpumps; I have 3 breastpumps!).

Turkey, Hong Kong, Phuket, Italy?

Hubby is going to Turkey again this August for an international exhibition. I missed the opportunity to go with him last year; as I had to take care of darling daughter and didn't have enough breastmilk stock. I hope I don't miss the chance again this year... now have to work on convincing mom to take care of darling for us; crossing my fingers, toes and eyes !!!

Hong Kong trip is confirmed. We are travelling in Sep 08 with mom, my 2nd sis and darling daughter. It's darling's first ever vacation trip! I hope she will enjoy disneyland =o)

Phuket is going to be my company's team building trip. It was first planned for in Jul 08, then changed to Aug and now postponed to Oct 08. We'll see if it will happen.

Italy... something hubby is working on. We are trying to get a sponsored buying mission from the Italian Embassy! A friend has actully had the luck to participate in one, with airfare, lodging and POCKET MONEY provided !! I wish we have the same luck too !!

Pak Toh...

Something that we have not been able to do very often these days; pak toh (dating). As we have to take care of darling daughter on weekends, hubby and I hardly have any time alone. I was excited by all the sales going on in town, so I decided to take a day off and went shopping with hubby!

Shopping was not fantastic... was hoping to buy some new clothing or shoes but was dissapointed with the selection. Nonetheless, I still spent over 500 ringgit at the Biotherm counter on skincare! I knew it... I just knew I was going to overspend on skincare. Was planning to buy just a moisturiser; but ended up with another whitening essense and spot corrector!! The free gifts are just too hard to resist...

Hmm... Biotherm's ad says obvious result can be seen after 5 days of application. I'm counting and checking the spots constantly...

I bought these

Online Shopping - Ladies First Products

I used to watch the popular beauty review show "Ladies First" (nu ren wuo jui da) on TVBS when my eldest sis was crazy over the show (she still is I think!). The show is very interesting as they review and recommend 'tested and approved' skincare and beauty products by the professionals or celebrities in Taiwan but I was always thinking ... "cheh... the products are not available in Malaysia also..."

But they are now!! I stumbled upon a few e-stores by chance that bring in the reviewed products from Taiwan & Japan. All products are sold in RM and delivers all over Malaysia! I would say the selections are pretty good; my favourites are Easyshop and LingHouse.
